FAQ
What is the golden hour?
The time just after sunrise and before sunset when the Sun is low, from 6° above to 4° below the horizon. The light is warm and soft and shadows are long, which is why photographers love it. How long it lasts depends on the season and latitude.
What is the blue hour?
A short time after sunset and before sunrise, when the Sun is 4° to 6° below the horizon. The sky turns deep blue and city lights blend in beautifully.
How often is there a full moon?
On average every 29.5 days, the length of a full cycle of Moon phases. That is why some months have two full moons.
When is the best time to see shooting stars?
On the night of a shower's peak, usually after midnight and away from city lights. Give your eyes about 20-30 minutes to adapt to the dark. The richest showers are the Geminids in December and the Perseids in August.
Calculated by Zenitmap: Sun and Moon with SunCalc, new and full moon with J. Meeus's algorithm, meteor showers from the International Meteor Organization (IMO) calendar.
