How the rules work
In the UK and the European Union summer time starts on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October. The change happens at the same moment everywhere, at 1:00 UTC, which is 1:00 am in the UK in March and 2:00 am in October.
In the US and most of Canada daylight saving time runs from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, with the change at 2:00 am local time. Arizona (outside the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii do not change their clocks.
Phones and computers set to update the time automatically will change by themselves. Watches, ovens, car clocks and some alarm clocks need to be changed by hand.
