About Zenitmap

Zenitmap is a live map of the world: weather, radar, storms, aurora, earthquakes, planes, ships and webcams in one place, in 14 languages. Here is plainly who runs it, where the data comes from and how the pages are made.

Who runs it

Marcin Fierka

Zenitmap was founded and is run by Marcin Fierka. The project started in Poland and was built for the whole world from day one. Every guide is signed, and we check facts and numbers against the sources before publishing.

Our own ADS-B antenna in Reda

We receive part of the flight data ourselves. Our ADS-B antenna sits about 25 m above the ground in Reda near Gdańsk, Poland, and picks up aircraft over the Bay of Gdańsk and northern Poland.

Its data adds to the worldwide OpenSky Network of receivers that we show on the flight map.

How the pages are made

Every place page is calculated from data for that place: the ECMWF forecast at its coordinates, the nearest radars and stations, day length, long-term averages. The text under the numbers changes with the data, so two pages never say the same thing.

Pages are rebuilt every day, and live data (radar, lightning, earthquakes, Kp, planes) is loaded by your browser the moment you open the page. Every number comes with its source, and every webcam with the owner of the image.

We do not copy images from other sites. Webcams come from official open data, the YouTube player or partners who agreed to it.
